Birthday Blessings

Psalm 139:15-17

My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.


And so it was for Carrie.
Nine months of hidden communion with her Creator...all in preparation for what He had already ordained for her!

On January 20, 1996...at 9:58 AM, Carrie joined our family. God chose us to be the parents of this beautiful baby girl.

Fourteen years ago!
It doesn't seem all that long ago until you look into the faces of those very young and very inexperienced parents.





Love covers all kinds of mistakes...of which we have made and are still making.
Carrie teasingly refers to herself as "the guinea pig." What parent...and oldest child...can't relate to that?

Oh, the love!
Mixed with a bit of--O.K., a lot of--pride...



Pride over who she was (ruffles and all!)...





and who she is growing to be.



Believe this...

Psalm 127:3-5

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.


Carrie, know and remember this...Everyday of your life you are a blessing to us!

    I can completely relate to your words- 8 years of parenthood later I still feel inexperienced and fumbling at times! So glad you learned to scan ;) Those are great pictures!

    BTW- did you see that we can't upload videos anymore!? I tried to upload some on my private family blog but they don't show. Plus the ones previously uploaded no longer work. :( very sad.
