My Baby Turns 5

There's just something "big" about turning 5.
Five means using an entire hand to show
how old you are.
Five means shopping in the big boy section.
Five means school in the fall.
And if you have a child who is older than 5, then you know how quickly time flies once they have
started school.

For Matthew, 5 also means that you get to have
your first Friend Party.

This year's theme?
Duck Dynasty!

I scoured the internet for duck-related, camo-related, hunting-related, redneck-related party stuff.

Really!
They were very time-consuming, and they used a lot of bowls, but they were pretty simple.

And...they were Matthew-approved!

Saturday morning, the morning of his Friend Party, finally arrived!
I think we have been counting down days until his birthday for at least 80 days.

Frosted and ready to eat!

The table is ready!

Look!
Nightcrawlers!
They made a house for them!
(Duck Dynasty Reference)

Thank you, Carrie, for making a house for our
gummy night crawlers!

Carrie's got some game preparation goin' on!

Grandma came early to help out.
She also brought Matthew a couple early
birthday presents...

Duck Dynasty Season 1 wrapped in a camo shirt!

And a very, very special present.
A flamingo cracking out of an egg.
Matthew likes to tease Grandma by giving her flamingos.
Grandma is giving back.

Uncle Si

Jase

Willy

Someone is sneaking nightcrawlers out of their
little house!

Caught ya!

Is that Matthew posing with his "5" or is he
trying to spell "Si"...

The party guests arrive!

First, everyone received a camo mask.

Next, they went with William to make their duck blind...

Then it's on to the Donuts!
Sticky, Glazed Donuts!
Ohhhhh yeahhhhh!
No...they are not flaming hot.
(Another Duck Dynasty Reference)

And the winner is...
Eli!
He couldn't speak and his eyes were all teary
(due to the amount of donut in his mouth...
not due to emotion),
but he could grin really big when he was
declared the winner!

Frog Poppin'!
How many poppin' frogs can you catch in your tea glass?

Aaron's the winner!

Time to do some duck-hunting!

Catch your ducks in the net,
then match the number to the prize!

Present time!

Camo face paint and a ninja suit!
Boys know boys!

This Duck Dynasty wouldn't be complete without some Pringles duck bills...

Happy Birthday, Dear Matthew!

No cake for Charlie.

Time to bust up some Bieber dams!
Oh.
Beaver dams?
TIme to bust up some Beaver dams!

The bigger boys seemed to get more joy out of busting up a piñata with the picture of Justin Bieber on it.

It pays to wait until everyone else loses interest
in the piñata fillings...

The day turned out to be a little chilly,
but beautifully sunny.
It was a fun party to plan...and it seemed appropriate that Matthew would ask for a Duck Dynasty party-- considering that he has been a duck call kind of guy for many years...

Oh, sweet Matty.
Paul has been calling him Jep lately.
He is very lovey toward his Momma.

 Happy 5th Birthday, Matthew!
I love you very much!

Celebrating the Important Days,
